What is Community Solar?
Community Solar is a solar energy subscription program that is available to Natick residents and small businesses. In the past, solar power was only available to those who could afford the large upfront costs of rooftop solar or that met structural qualifications. Those who didn’t qualify or did not want rooftop solar panels were unable to invest in solar energy. However, Community Solar farms, like those built by Clearway Community Solar, make solar energy accessible to everyone through their local solar farm without the hassle or upfront costs of rooftop solar panels.
Clearway’s current offer in Natick includes a savings guarantee. Here’s how it works: First, the solar power generated by a Clearway solar farm is sent directly to the power grid. In return for supporting renewable energy, subscribers receive solar bill credits applied to their utility bill. Customers pay Clearway for the solar bill credits at a discounted rate – 7% off every month, guaranteed. In summary, for every $1.00 that reduces a subscriber’s utility bill, the customer only pays Clearway $0.93 and supports renewable energy along the way.
Clearway Community Solar
Community Solar arrays are built and maintained by Clearway Community Solar at an offsite location that receives plenty of sunlight. The solar farms also generate solar energy during the winter. Customers subscribe to the program and the power produced is then delivered directly to the local power grid. In return for the support of renewable power to the grid, customers will receive solar bill credits that are applied to their utility bill, reducing the charges. Solar bill credits can potentially cover the entire amount of a utility bill, depending on home energy consumption and the amount of solar production; the impact of the solar bill credits will vary from month to month, but customers are guaranteed to save on their costs. That’s right, a renewable energy savings guarantee! Natick customers are guaranteed to save on the cost of the solar bill credits, and the program also includes convenient cancellation terms – currently $0 cancellation fees. Understanding Savings with Clearway
Clearway customers pay Clearway directly for the solar bill credits received on their utility bill with a savings guarantee. For every $1.00 in solar bill credits, Massachusetts customers only pay Clearway $0.93. Here’s an example:
